About our Kiwanis club

The Kiwanis Club of Oxford observed its 95th anniversary in 2021.  We are part of nearly 8,000 local Kiwanis organizations in 80 countries.  Many people know us locally because of our annual fundraiser, Pancake Day.  But our emphasis on serving children is paramount.  Our members assist Kiwanis Service Learning Programs (SLP) K-Kids, Builders Club, Key Club, and Circle K at every school in the Talawanda District and at Miami University.  We also support the local Girl Scout, Boy Scout, and Cub Scout organizations.  We will soon be chartering a Butler County Aktion Club for adults with disabilities.

During the past five years the entire Oxford Kiwanis organization has contributed to Pancake Days, Chili Suppers, Food Drives for TOPSS, Fourth of July community celebrations, and holiday Bell Ringing for the Salvation Army and the Family Resource Center.  Kiwanis Grants support more than 40 local school and community education and health programs.  Each of our SLPs also meets on a regular basis to plan their own specific service projects.

Kiwanis currently meets at noon on Tuesdays at LaRosa’s Pizzeria, 21 Lynn Avenue in Oxford.  Lunch is usually followed by a program with a featured speaker on a topic of community interest.  In addition to planning upcoming service projects, members learn about a variety of topics, ranging from local history to understanding how various non-profit organizations serve the greater Oxford community.  These meetings also provide a fun atmosphere for social interaction with others.  Annual membership dues are $104, and meals (currently cost $9.25) are billed quarterly.

If you are interested in community service and making Oxford a better place, please consider joining us for lunch during the next few weeks.  Prospective members don’t pay for their meals.    Simply email us at [email protected], and tell us that you want to know more.  A member will contact you and invite you to one of our meetings.
