Excerpts of the Kiwanis Club Grant Policy Pertinentto Requesting Organizations
Purpose
The Kiwanis Club of Oxford’s (“the Club”) policy is to establish uniform guidelines for the receipt, administration, review, evaluation, award, and communication of grant requests other than funds provided to Kiwanis International or the Ohio District of Kiwanis.
Guidelines
The Club’s grants should support the goal of “improving the world, one child and one community at a time.” The Club’s primary focus is children and youth.
General
Grant Request Forms can be obtained by contacting any Club member or by downloading the form located on the Club’s website at http://www.oxfordkiwanis.org.
Grant action is taken on the first Tuesday of each month until funds are exhausted. Please submit your grant no later than the Thursday prior to this first Tuesday. The Kiwanis fiscal year begins October 1.
External grant requests must come directly from the potential grant recipient. Requests by a third-party representative will not be accepted. Grants will not be funded through a third party. Exceptions may be approved by the Board.
Priority will be given to grant requests that impact the health and wellness of children, assist in eliminating children’s safety hazards, have educational value for children, and are not funded by other existing sources.
Restrictions
Grant funds may not be used for any purpose that may be deemed illegal.
Grant funds may not be used to cover organizational budget deficits.
Grant funds may not be used to benefit an individual outside of an approved budget item.
Grant funds may not be used for a for-profit business.
Grant funds may not be used for religious-based projects unless it is demonstrably secular in nature and open to the public.
Grants which are deemed by the Board to support highly controversial social or political issues, events, activities, agendas, or projects will not be approved.
